Moving an iTunes playlist to usb drive

Running latest version of iTunes and El Capitan. I'm trying to move a playlist with 58 songs to a thumb drive. I have converted all the songs to mp3.
According to post i've seen in researching it says I should be able to drag the playlist to the drive but it will not allow me to do this.
What am I doing wrong.

It sounds like you are trying to drag the Playlist from the Sidebar to the USB? Open the Playlist, then select all the tracks and then drag them all together to the USB.
