I have Mac Mail version 13.4 with the Catalina OS X version 10.15.7.

When I receive an email thread from an email sender, or when I reply to an ongoing email thread,
the latest email message always appears on the bottom of the email thread.

Is there a way to reverse the order so that the latest email in an email thread always appears at the top of the thread?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

I'm using Mac Mail Version 16.0 (3774.500.171.1.1) on Sonoma 14.4 and in Preferences->Viewing, at the bottom I have the option Show most recent message at the top, checking that moves the latest message in the thread to the top.

If your version of Mac Mail has that setting, enable it.

Are you stuck at Catalina due to an old Mac?

Thanks for the tip.
I use Catalina because some of my software may not work with the current OS X.

Sounds good. Hopefully that setting does what you want. I had it turned off myself, so it's helping me too. 😃

OT, if you ever decide you want to upgrade to a later macOS assuming your Mac is compatible, you can check out the compatibility of the applications that might give you an indication of how they should work here:

And maybe check out your printe/scanner at the manufacturer's site for compatibility, but I would suggest having a current clone backup for doing any major upgrade. Then you can easily go back to where you were if things go Goofy and stop working properly.
