Hi folks, wondering if anyone can help with this...

I have a 500GB Lacie drive for work. Unfortunately, when it was set up at my work, the IT guy formatted to NTFS (as we use PCs).

Of course this meant I couldn't write to the drive on my iMac at home.

I've tried re-formatting (1 partition) to FAT...but it still won't write.

Whenever I try copying files to the drive on my iMac it says "Can't copy - error code 0"

It seems to read/write fine on the PCs at work.

Any thoughts? I use the drive for audio and editing.

How did you reformat the one partition and which utility did you use to do it?

Regards.

If the partition is FAT32, then you should be able to read and write just fine. Unless of course you're trying to copy a file that's bigger than 4Gb - the FAT32 limit.

On a side note, you can use something called NTFS-3G to have your Mac OS with NTFS write support.
Just type "NTFS on Mac" in a Google, or even on these forums to find what you need :) :) wow, googling is really really hard :D

I formatted in Disk Utility...and the files I was trying to copy were nowhere near the 4gb limit.

strange. its been left with an it guy at work now...we'll see what he says. if not then i might try the ntfs on a mac option. thanks!
