But that depends really.. The drive have a controller chip on it and the enclosure has one also.. If the enclosure one which is Lacie made died, chances the drive may still work. That said, a USB 2.0 enclosure is only about $20 USD, which is fast enough for backups. Then if the drive is dead also, you can get a drive for about $80. Depending on your size and brand.. Or just get a WD MyBook USB 3.0 for Mac and I think I paid about $125-ish USD for a 3TB. Which is less hassle and you can forget about the issue and move on..</p></blockquote><p></p>
