Both RAM slots are filled. When I first encountered the kernel panics I tried running on each single stick of RAM at a time. However, I still experienced the crashes. After which, I got 2 new stick of RAm and still got the panics. I should say too that it has been a 'wait and see' plan because when I first formatted the hdd, it worked fine for a week or 2 after which the panics occurred again. Thursday (May 5th), I got about 8 panics (even during cloning my drive with CCC). Friday (May 6th) I booted off the cloned external drive and worked the whole day on it putting the Mac through tons of rigors and I didn't have any panics. I plan to keep working off the external drive, waiting to see if i get more panics. If it does then I will go at the memory again like you recommended.
