iPhone XR speaker volume

How do I increase the volume of the telephone speaker when I hold the phone to my ear. Currently it is very low. I don’t mean using the volume buttons on the side of the phone. I’m finding I have to use the speaker all the time which is not great in a public place.

Your Mac's Specs
2021 M1 MacBook Pro 14" macOS 14.4.1, Mid 2010MacBook 13" iPhone 13 Pro max, iPad 6, Apple Watch SE.
Using the up/down volume buttons on the side of the iPhone is the standard method. Alternatively you would need to bring up the Control Centre and use the volume slider.
