Well, a few highly relevant questions:
Do you and your wife:
Have/share the same Apple ID?
Do you share Mail?
Even if the answers are both No, it may be in your settings that each of you has agreed that emails (and other things like Messages) may originate from or receive each others - "You can be reached at" in your settings eg Messages and this could apply to Mail.
