I read that article elsewhere that Randy posted and yes, it's a real shock to learn just how bad Intel has been sliding. Even AMD is ahead of Intel with producing a 7 nm chip. The real shock is that Intel will now outsource chip production to Taiwan. You can bet with all the $$ that Intel has, they will try to squeeze out AMD just as they have been for the past 30 years.

WOW...!!! That's quite some new and shocking news.

I guess that could be the end of an era:

And maybe it might even say, Made in the US of A.

But I probably won't live long enough to ever own an ARM Desktop Mac.

I wasn't expecting this but in hindsight, I think this has been coming for a while now.

Intel has not seen the kinds of performance gains that Apple and others would like. O don't follow this side of the industry consistently but I have noticed that more and more vendors seem to be bragging that their systems are based on AMD's Ryzen series.

I just read that over 90% of processors in the world are ARM processors!

And I guess that almost 100% are still ARM 32-bit RISC processors.

What is Apple going to do about that little detail I wonder...??? :D

Patrick, why should Apple care about those other processors? Apple will build a 64-bit Apple Silicon, put it in all Apple devices over time and that's that.

What does any of this have to do with Apple? The percentage that Randy quoted includes all other devices like smartphones made by a LOT of other companies than Apple.

I'm sure Apple doesn't care, but it just seems a bit odd to me that their latest current Mac OS has just killed off all 32-bit stuff, and then they have to turn around and have to create and develop a brand-new 64-bit ARM Processor chip that barely exists to run their OS and software.

Maybe one of my hats is on too tight Patrick but this makes sense to me. if you're going to start making this transition why not skip 32-bit now if you can? Make one transition instead of two. Aren't the chips in IOS devices already 64-bit.

Sorry Sly, just don't let any of your hats give you a headache over my comments, too tight or not.

I was just babbling on... And I'm sure Apple will get everything all sorted out and working properly...
