iMac running too slow Bobtomay, Thank you, this is very helpful! The free version of iDefrag doesn't allow a defragmentation but does give the visual image of the HD which shows a lot of RED, meaning I think that the data is spread out as you anticipated. I wanted to know that the $30 iDefrag software is not a hoax and can actually help with the computer performance. I can delete some big movie files to free up HD space. As for RAM, it already has 512MB, and for about $75 I can get it to 2GB if I install it. So as a secondary computer, for my kids to do homework, surf the web, do email, I could upgrade the iMac for about $100, as opposed to a couple thousand for the latest machine. I think I could get a cam for videochat as well if we wanted to do that. Does this all make sense for the next couple of years?
