While this would be an interesting mod, you have almost NO chance of this working. The computers you have been building contain parts conforming to the ATX standard. Apple parts are proprietary (unique) form factors. This means they are specifically designed for the cases they are built in. Also, you would have to build it using laptop parts. significantly more difficult to find than desktop ATX parts. then theres the fact you would have to splice a screen into the case.which means running a DVI connector through your case into the back of the motherboard unless you are particularly savvy with electronics. This in turn equals crappy cooling due to awful cable management and airflow, and there is NO chance of you water cooling in the shell so forget about it. Cable Management is a PITA in a windows system. think what it would be like with such little space. Also, the stock Intel heat sink is thicker than an iMac actually is. And thats a small HS. you would have to cut holes in the casing to accommodate I/O, which would look minging, require specialist tools and so on, plus you would have the old holes from the iMacs old I/O. AND it would cost you more. IPS panel = megabucks. AND there are many other flaws in this plan. Sorry to pick your idea apart, but it is impossible to do well. unless you can manufacture motherboards.
