Depends on which Mini you have? Without telling us the year and model, it's not easy to answer your question specifically. The reason being is that the newer model Mini has non removable memory. It's soldered to the logic board.

Which Mac Mini model? Apple has redesigned the form factor over time.

If you go to  > About This Mac, what does it say under "Overview"?

EDIT: Too slow...

- Super easy on newer models (2010 and newer).
- Not so easy on older models (2009 and older). Did a RAM upgrade one of these a couple weeks ago. Can definitley do some serious cosmetic damage & internal component damage if not careful.

Except 2014 models and newer.

You're absolutely correct...thanks for mentioning it.:) I should have said RAM upgrades for Mac-Mini's:

- 2009 and older not so easy.
- 2010-2012 super easy.
- 2014 and newer. Can't upgrade RAM after purchase. RAM is soldered to logic board.

That's why I mentioned it in post #2. If he has a new Mini, he'll have to live with the "sucky" ram. LOL.

Yes...I'm getting a lot of "sucky RAM" experience at the moment. Trying to purchase the wife a newer MacBook Air for Christmas (probably a 2014 model...from a 2011). All I can find are 4gig RAM models for sale. Very few used 8gig setups. Maybe because few folks upgraded them at time of purchase. Or the folks that have them...aren't selling them!;)

Btw I have a 4gb ram Mac book air 13 in early 2014 that I like a lot it has a average battery life and enough ram to run low-med end games and I think the ram is soldered in beacause in about my Mac it does not have a memory tab or anything showing slots like my Mac mini does. I don't think you can upgrade them

That is correct. Not only is the RAM not upgradeable on a 2014 MBA. The RAM in not upgradeable on any MacBook Air (since 2008).:)

You can upgrade the pros though

Not entirely correct. Since 2012 when Retina MacBook Pro's were introduced. Retina MacBook Pro RAM is also not upgradeable. If it's a retina MacBook Pro...its RAM is not upgradeable.
