I am using a MacBook Pro that is running on macOS Monterey. I can't find ^ on my keyboard. I see it on the command key, but it is not showing up. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Assuming you're using an American English keyboard, then it should be upper case 6. (^^^^^^)

Unless of course you've remapped keys on your keyboard?

You can find all sorts of things on a standard keyboard:
œ∑´®†¥ ¨ ˆ ø π “ ‘ «
åß∂ƒ©˙ ∆˚ ¬…
Ω≈ç√∫ ˜ µ ≤ ≥ ÷
That is Option-top row, Option-middle row, Option-bottom row (q etc., a etc., z etc.)

Well toMACsh beat me to the punch while I was putting together the pic below - made from my MBAir 'QWERTY' keyboard - as said there are plenty of additional symbols using the 'Option' key combo as shown, including the Euro and English Pound - also Option-Zero gives the temp symbol, e.g. 70º F. Well Dave, you did a much better job than I did. I missed the numbers row entirely!

I can't find ^ on my keyboard.

For next time and for others, you might want to get and keep a copy of the very useful
PopChar.app handy,:

On my iMac, running OS 10.10.5, all you do is click on the American Flag at the very top of the screen and you get a dropdown menu offering Show Keyboard Viewer. When the image of the Keyboard pops up just hold the Option key on your real keyboard, or the Shift-Option keys, to see all the various characters possible.

Also, that ^ character you see on your keyboard is on your Control key, not your Command.

Wrong, as said previously the ^ is produced by Shift-6 on my American KB - the character is not part of the Control or Command key unless you are using a different KB? Dave :)

You're right, that symbol is on the Control key (at least on US keyboards) But Dave is correct when he sats pushing the Control key doesn't produce that symbol.

I just stumbled on finding a way to put the "Keyboard Viewer" icon on my menu bar (from System Preferences) and that is a really easy way to insert any of these characters/symbols (e,g, ∑, ¶, £ ). The Viewer also gives one the ability to select emojis. 😊

The ^ (also known as upper caret) is on all keyboards (Mac or Windows) on the number 6 key on US-type keyboard layouts.

Mac keyboards also have special symbols on the control, option and command keys. The control key is present on Windows keyboards as well and is usually called Ctrl instead. Option is akin to the Alt key on Windows and command is akin to the Windows key on there. The Windows key on most keyboards usually have the Windows logo on it.

The symbol on the control key is not the upper caret but a little more pyramid'ish.

Well I have a Das keyboard. When in the Keyboard Viewer, symbols (and upper case letters) are only revealed when holding down Option or Shift. Control and Command do not have any effect.
Command is used to execute, not to type. Holding down Control seems to disable the keyboard when typing, such as in this environment.
