I have a g4 tower, I was going out for the evening, and shut down the computer. I returned home, and turned it on, and how it is stuck trying to boot into os 9.2. It won't even get past the loading screen for os 9. I have tried single user mode, holding x, you name it, it have tried everything. I cannot get it to open the cd tray, so i can put in the tiger install disk to attempt to repair the disk. I'm frustrated and stuck, please help!

Did you try restarting holding down the Option key? That would force your Mac to look for all valid OSes installed on the hard drive.

You could try unplugging your Mac from the electrical outlet and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then plug it back in.

And could you give us more details on the OS X version you have installed and the complete specs on your Mac? All we know is that it's a G4 tower and that it has OS X installed on it and OS 9.2. Not much to go on, I'm afraid.

To open the CD tray, try holding down a mouse button on startup.
Don't know if that still works on newer Macs.

It works on all my G4's, G5's and Intel Core Duo mini, so I am sure it will work.

It's a dual processor g4, it has tiger on it. Theres at least a gig of ram in it. It's a fairly new machine to me (my roommates), so i'm not very familiar with it sadly. He bought it and upgraded it a long while ago, and right now he is out of town, and I hope we can get it fixed before he gets back, cause he might go a bit bonkers if he returns and finds his compy on the fritz.
