file and software transfer

i have a new mac pro, an upgrade from my old PowerMac G4. Setup assistant tells me that the files, software and internet presets can be transferred via a firewire. The G4 has what I think is a firewire 400 and the mac pro ports are firewire 800. Even migration assistant tells me to connect the firewire from my old to my new computer. I am running Leopard on both. What the heck? Ed

You can use a cable like this.
FireWire 800/400 1394B/A 9 Pin to 6 Pin Fir... (1394B96012) at OWC
you can get them about anywhere that sells cables. Or you can use an Ethernet cable if you have one laying around.
