Usually delays in accessing files/folders on your hard drive are related to RPMs, but half a second to a full second to open folders is a bit much. Should be near instantaneous. Is this happening with all of the folders or just randomly? I have a 7200RPM drive in my Macbook, folders open the second I double click on them. Only time I see a delay is when I'm accessing external drives that have powered down and need a few seconds to spool up.
