I guess I did wonder about those for a bit, but really, I didn't think anybody would still be using one of those Mice in this day and age. Anyway, to clean the little ball on the top of those mice, pour a fair bit of 99% Isopropyl Alchol over a sheet of clean paper and/or maybe a clean cotton handkerchief and turn the mouse upside down so that the small ball is on the bottom, and quite vigoursly move the mouse around and back-and-forth and do some circular motions on the wet area. Then do the same over a dry area. You may have to do it two or three times to get it back to its original smooth state, but that method always worked for me. But personally I don't have much, or anything good to say about those Apple mice either. If you like that type of mouse and lare looking for something newer and better, both Logitech and I believe Kensington still make(s) various ball controlled mice, and there may be others. Try googling. Most all mice are Mac compatible, and some have special Mac software for extra modifications and features. Have fun. EDIT: How about this fancy guy: https://www.logitech.com/en-ca/product/wireless-trackball-m570 ???? or even one of these???: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015G8LUPO/?tag=macforums0e4-20 - Patrick ======
