This all really depends what and where you are shooting. I would say that this entire deal with the 30d is great, if all your shooting is your family, outdoors in good light or indoors with good light. The only probelms with the kit you are looking at are the CF cards and the tele zoom lens. The CF cards that come with the kit will do you fine if all you plan on shooting is family. But if you want to get into more advanced photography such as sports photography or even taking pictures of your kids sporting events, you may want a faster CF card. The ones that come with the kit look like some regular speed cards not really meant for shooting sports. But if you do decide to go with this kit and want to do some action photography, I'd recomend a 1g CF card with a higher write speed. Gets you about 300 pictures and it should do fine. Now the lens. The lens that comes with this kit is alright. Only alright. I have heard some good things and it can be recomended to beginners, but I've also heard terrible things about this lens. So if possible, you may want to invest in a different tele zoom lens. I'd recomend the EF 70-200mm F/4L. I've heard nothing bad about this lens. It would make a great addition to your kit. Also an EF 50mm F/1.8 would be great for low light situations. I'd say go with this kit but only if you are prepared to invest a bit more in some cards and lenses.
