Yes ... and in some ways OS X is even more "simple" making it harder to make particular lasting configuration changes. I only have the one (MBP C2D 2.33) so I can't say for sure. I'll reboot in a little bit and post my exact times. edited to add boot times: 25 seconds from power button to password prompt; I have Boot Camp set to start OS X unless commanded otherwise, but this may add a few seconds of wait'n'see time to the bootup. 5 seconds from password entry to desktop. 5 seconds after that, the first app I clicked on (Mail) was up and running. So worst case scenario, 35 seconds ... that's not just getting the system running but 35 seconds from power button to being in an application, using it, getting work done. That's a great example specifically because it works so much differently. In WinXP, alt-tab cycles you through every open window. In Mac OS X, apple-tab cycles you through every open application. You use apple-tilde to cycle through windows within an application. So if you want to go from Word to Mail, you don't have to cycle through the seventeen open open Safari (browser) windows to get there. But if you want to switch to a different Word document, you have to remember to apple-tilde instead of apple-tab. Once you get the hang of it, I'd say it's a nice feature. But at first, it was different and I didn't like it.
