In late 2004 I bought my PowerBook G4 12" And I have to say "I will never buy another 'metal' mac" Yes, the plastic (MacBook, iBook) will scratch easier but when metal bends it does not bend back. I bought a samsonite laptop backpack (fully padded) and only used my 12" powerbook in it for 2 quarters going to class and taking notes--and the now the laptop casing is deformed in many places from consistent but light pressure. I hate it! Don't get me wrong i love the mac but I hate its so messed-up now. The latch has trouble catching when I close it, and the case is bulging in places; and trying to bend it back.... don't try it... trust me! IF you plan to "take it with you" (which IS the whole point of a laptop riight?) I wouldn't get the pro just on the premise that its got an aluminum case. IF you plan to be one of those wierdos who buys a laptop that never leaves a single desk, then sure, go for the pro I definitely think its better.
