hi, I inadvertently turned on Incognito browsing on iPhone Chrome yesterday.. now I can't turn it off..

I searched, it says turn of Incognito Mode under Settings -> Privacy and Security....
but THERE IS NO SETTING FOR INCOGNITO MODE under Privacy and Settings...

there's only
LOCK INCOGNITO TABS WHEN YOU CLOSE CHROME
and
ASK TO OPEN. LINKS FORM OTHER APPS IN INCOGNITO

but NOTHING to turn INCOGNITO MODE off or on....

iPhone 16.3.1
Chrome version I don't know.. how you look up Chrome version in iPhone.. I searched, it says to look under Chrome Menu, but there's no menu in Incognito Mode..

would appreciate some help..

thank you..

PS: am attaching screenshot of Privacy and Security screen under Settings in Chrome...
as you can see, there's nothing to turn INCOGNITO MODE OFF OR ON...

thank you..

In Chrome, click on the "tabs" icon to show all open tabs. At the very top of the page you will see the incognito/tabs/devices control. select the tabs to exit incognito mode.

select the TABS button in the middle (that shows the number of tabs open)?
doesn't do anything.... whether I just click on it or press hard on it..

oh brother.. this is ridiculous.. and WHY is there no button to turn INCOGNITO MODE off or on under Privacy and Security? which is where it's supposed to be? :-(

thank you for your response...

Then open another tab, so you will get the option to show all open tabs.

Did you read this; Browse in private - iPhone & iPad - Google Chrome Help
It seems like on an iPhone you need to;

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app
    Chrome
    .
  2. At the bottom, tap Switch tabs
    Switch tabs
    .
    • On your iPhone, you can find:
      • Switch tabs
        Switch tabs
        at the bottom.
      • More
        More
        and then
        Settings
        Settings
        at the bottom right.
    • On your iPad, you can find:
      • Switch tabs
        Switch tabs
        at the top.
      • More
        More
        and then
        Settings
        Settings
        at the top right.
  3. Swipe right or left to switch between Incognito tabs and regular Chrome tabs.

thank you very much everyone.. you must all think I'm a moron, but I really couldn't find the way to do it... clicking on TABS button didn't do anything..

at any rate, it's back to normal mode now.. and I don't know how it got switched back..

No, I don't think anyone on these forums thinks you're a moron. I don't use Google Chrome so I'm sorry I for one couldn't give you a better answer to your question. I'm glad it's working correctly for you now. Browsers seem to work in different ways when it come to private browsing.

With Brave Browser on iOS I just Press and Hold the + button (new tab) and I see this:

Maybe Chrome is similar?
