I am coming from the PC world and this will be my first mac. I currently use a Dell with their 20" DVI Flat panel screen. I am trying to spend no more than $2400 with everything so here are my choices: Choice #1 - IMAC 24" 2.16Ghz, 1GB Ram, 250GB HD, Wireless Mouse and Keyboard - $2060 Office Student -$149 Total $2210+ Tax Choice #2 - IMAC 20 2.16Ghz, 1GB RAM. 250GB HD, Wireless KB and Mouse - $1560 Upgrade RAM to 2.5GB Myself - $150 WD 500GB External HD USB- $200 Office - $149 Total - $2060+ tax Choice #3 - Mini 1.83Ghz, 512MB Ram, 160GB HD, Wireless KB and Mouse - $1060 Upgrade RAM to 2.0GB Myself - $150 WD 500GB External HD USB- $200 Office - $149 Use Dell Display of course Total - $1560 This is what I will use computer for: 1. Internet 2. Word and Excel 3. Ipod Updates 4. Hopefully learn how to use Mac software to create online photo stuff 5. Hopefully make DVDs at some point from family videos. 6. Hopefully not have to reboot as much as I do my Dell 7. I do not play games anymore. 8. Create backup DVDs Pros and Cons: I worry that the Mini is not Core Duo 2 and wonder how that will affect me for what I plan to do. If I get the 20" Imac I will probably use my Dell display as well for dual display. Is this overkill for what I plan to do? 24" solves the problem by giving me the biggest display and I will not use my Dell display. So - 24" Imac - 1 display that is 24" 20" Imac - 2X20" displays Mini - 1X20" Display What would you fine Mac people do?
