I am in India and trying to connect my Mac 10.6 to Internet using ethernet cable, the ISP here are familiar to PC only. (I am not using any Router at home) The way the guys conntected my PC to internet is 1. My Netork Places --> Local Area Connection Properties --> Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) Properties 2. Choose the radio button : "Use the following IP address" (and enter all the IPs manually as below) IP Address : 172.19.7.242 Subnet mask : 255.255.252.0 Default gateway : 172.19.5.1 Use the following DNS server addresses Preferred DNS server : 172.19.5.1 Alternate DNS server : 202.56.240.5 3.I go to their site : http://172.19.5.1 and login. Internet starts working. I tried this in Mac 10.6. 1. System Preferences-->Network-->Select "Ethernet" from left panel --> Location: Automatic 2. Enter the following Configure IPv4 : Manually IP Address: 172.19.7.242 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Router: Left blank (as i am not connected to any home router) DNS Server: 172.19.5.1 Search Domains : blank 3. Click Apply --> Changes the Status to : "Ethernet is currently active and has the IP address 172.19.7.242" However it is not connected to internet :Angry-Tongue:. Please advise
