Can anyone demystify USB C charger compatibility with my M1 Macbook Air?
I have three charging related devices that work with this M1 Macbook Air: 1. The 35W white Apple made charger that came with it. 2. A 65W USB C charger that came with an old Lenovo T480 Thinkpad I had lying around. 3. This Anker USB C hub. The 35W Apple charger will charge the laptop battery when plugged directly into it, but will not charge the battery when plugged in through the Anker hub. The 65W Lenovo charger will not charge the battery when plugged directly into the Macbook, but it will charge the battery when it is plugged in through the Anker hub. The 35W charger behaving as it does makes sense to me, it has enough juice to charge the battery only when plugged in directly, and the Anker hub siphons off too much power for it to be able to charge the battery. But why on earth would the 65W charger only charge the battery when passed through the Anker hub, and not when plugged in directly?
