F11 key- hiding problem

MB 2.16 ghz, 120 gig HD, 2 gig memory
I always used the f11 key to hide windows and what not but when i turned on my computer most of my F keys were unbound. For instance F12 which is the dashboard was unbound....i fixed that but cant figure out how to do the hide option. Any ideas?

Sounds like the "Use F1-F11 keys to control software features" switch in Preferences.
