i put parallels windows xp on a usb drive. I was wondering if that would heighten the security so OSX doesnt get sick. Was that just retarded or was I right?

No, you can just leave it on your OSX drive. If anything goes wrong, your parallels file "winxp.hdd" will get affected. OSX will stay strong.
