Hey guys,.. I've had a Macbook now for about for about 4 months and I love it. I find myself using it more and more. There are a couple of programs I would like to use on my Mac and I was hoping for some recommendations.

A text editor with syntax highlighting. Specifically HTML and CSS, but it would be nice if python and php were supported as well. (I use notepad++ on Windows.)

A good ftp program. Nothing fancy. (I use Filezilla for Windows.)

I'm kind of a minimalist, so the smaller and less bloated the better.

Thanks

I use TextMate, arguably the best text editor for Macs. However it is not for free.

Not entirely sure, but since it's Java-based, jEdit should work for ya. Supports pretty much everything, and I know it does HTML, CSS, PHP, and should do python.

Text Wrangler is an excellent and free text editor.

For FTP, never forget the humble command line "ftp" command. It is always there, always works, and is excellent. Open a Terminal session and fire it up. Also, see CyberDuck and CaptainFTP, for more GUI offerings. CaptainFTP, while not freeware, is an excellent app in the traditional dual pane file manager model, where one pane is the remote site and one pane is the local site. Very easy to use.
