I am currently using a 1.2GHz iBook G4 and am looking at setting up a mac mini at home. I was curious what screens people are using and having a good experience with.

As awesome as the HD monitors that Apple makes are, they are pricey. I have had nothing but stellar results from Dell's line up of HD monitors. Check em out, im not sure about the exact specs (i dont own one, I just work on one at school).

For the price of that wouldn't it make since to just get an imac?

I'd say so. A Mac Mini Core Duo w/ 20" ACD is only $100 cheaper than a 20" iMac. And it has a smaller HD, slower processor, etc. I'd suggest a nice widescreen LCD from Newegg.com, maybe a Viewsonic. They have a 19" for about $200.

Thats a sweet monitor, but once again this defeats what I was looking to accomplish. I liked the idea of the mac mini becuase of its price point, I guess i'll keep saving and go with an imac.

hopefully my ibook will seel to help fund the switch.. thanks all!

If I were to get one I would use my HDTV.

the Dells are totally slick and have the same minimalistic streamlined design that the Apple monitors have. The dell monitor I use at school is like a gun metal chrome also, it looks great.

Dell monitors are indeed very nice.
Especially their UltraSharp line.
Also they are easier on you wallet.
But then again Apple's own line of monitors aren't bad either.

I'm running an el cheapo 19in widescreen Proview on dvi and I'm surprised at how good it is for the price.

Dell 2005FPW or 2007FPW, very good monitors and are very reasonably priced.

If I were to choose between the two, I'd go with the 2007FPW.
HDCP ready. Can't say no to that.

This is what I use

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824001209&ATT=24-001-209&CMP=OTC-Froogle

I paid $300 for it, was clearanced out at BestBuy. Guess the white didnt sell too well. Some ppl said I paid to much because it wasnt widescreen, but I wanted white and its the first white lcd Id seen. Sorry, dont have the $ to blow on a ACD.

Then someone posted this and I loved it. But I wasnt gonna return the one to BestBuy and order this. You can actually put the mini on the base of this one as seen on their website.
