I have been using MS Word for Mac 2011 for over a year without any issues. Today I saved a new blank document, added style headings to my text, then added a Table of Contents.

But the Table of Contents does not see my headings, so it keeps giving me error messages, explaining how to apply styles to my text.

Has anyone encountered this same issue?

I tried calling the free MS Help Desk, but they were clueless and only gave me the option to pay $99 for paid customer service.

Thank you!
Karen

Welcome to the Mac Forums.

The MS help desk is usually no help. If you need help with Office 2011 you can always contact the Mac Office Forums for help. The folks who hang out there are very knowledgeable and should be able to offer some advice. Go here.

It sounds like you're trying to create a template with Style Headings and a Table of Contents? Or is it a one time document?

It's just a one-time document, yes, using style headings for a TOC.

Thank you! I will go to that forum and post this request . . .
