Well I spoke too soon! It did go out and fetch the missing mail from this morning so I edited my post here, but now it is again not getting new mail even though it says "checking for Mail" and then says Updated Just Now. HELP!!!

The other issue that has been happening about once a day is for no reason the orientation switches to vertical from how I like it horizontal and there is no way to change it back to horizontal even though the setting is for horizontal unless I reboot and then it goes to horizontal again. Any help out there would be appreciated!!!

Which iPad do you have? I have my iPad 3 setup so that the orientation is switch controlled and set for landscape (horizontal). It will rotate to portrait (vertical) when I want it to, but the default is always landscape.

Mine is a 3 also, and I have it set to go to horizontal as well, but like I said all of a sudden on it's own it will switch to vertical and there is no way to get it back to horizontal without rebooting it.

BTW I am amending my post AGAIN as the email problem has come back!

Your email sounds like a provider problem. I would check with them. So, just to be clear, on your iPad, under Settings/General, there is a check beside "Lock Rotation" and the switch is down, showing red and still the screen changes orientation? The only time I've seen that is when games like Angry Birds forces the display to landscape because there is no portrait implementation, but when the game closes, the system goes back to portrait. If you have that Setting properly and the switch properly located and it's still switching outside of those few apps, the only thing I can think of is that the switch is broken. Is it still under AppleCare?

Thank you. Settings seem to be ok and when I turn it around it goes from horizontal to vertical and back and then with the switch changed it stays in place....BUT when it takes a mind of its own it just switches itself to vertical and stays there and I can only override by rebooting. I guess I'll just live with this daily quirk.

As for the email though I don't see how that is a provider issue since both my iMac and iPad are sourcing the same provider and the iMac gets and sends OK and then my iPad can send a message, but not receive any. Any other thoughts?
