I was getting ready to place an order but thought I would first ask whether there is a benefit to having the computer sent directly to my house? On another note; it asks for a prmo code. Are there any available promo codes available? Thanks.

Although a reasonable assumption could be made here, I gave up making assumptions as often as possible years ago.

You are correct...I made a few assumptions. I will order it from Apple, where they give you an option of home delivery or delivering it to a local Apple store. My original thought on delivery was that it might get better treatment going to a store with many other units at the same time vs. going out on a residential delivery. Since purchasing my first computer, an Apple IIe, I've not spent this much $ on a computer...hence the concern.

The computers are very nicely packaged and are usually shipped through FedEx with signature required at drop off. I haven't heard of anyone having issues with the delivery as long as you can be home to sign for it..

While shipping accidents are always a risk (our store once received a Mac Pro that had been skewered CLEAN THROUGH by a forklift!), its unbelievably rare and Apple designs its shipping containers with the same care and thought they put into the machine. Deliver to wherever with confidence.

The "promo codes" are probably for specific large employers, and in short I'm not aware of any.
