is a back lit keyboard really a reason to change

i have a 2008 black macbook 2.4 ghz/2gb ram 250 gb hd with a brand new battery, works absolutely perfect but it does not have a backlit keyboard. wondering if that would be a reason to take a chance on a macbook pro that is being sold as is with no power cord and missing keys or not, the pro is probably from 2007-2008 the person selling it doesn't want to answer questions.

Is the person selling it giving you money to take it? If so, I'd take it. Otherwise, let them find another sucker, uhm buyer.

That screams run away. I'm not even sure that's worth getting out of the chair to get to the front door to pick it up.

Is this the same MBP you brought up in your other thread? I agree with the advice given in that thread. With this new info on the seller not even wanting to answer a question, I would RUN the other way as fast as you can! Keep the Black 2008 MB till you can afford a newer MBP with an honest seller!

A small story to farther warn you! My pastor normally would ask me what I thought but did not and bought a used Dell D610 from ebay. He did not even check the users feedback or read the description carefully. It came with NO power adapter like the MBP you are looking at. The Seller actually had the NERVE to say "No AC Adapter needed! Battery lasts Forever!" I would have never bought it but my friend did. Well it was a locked machine with Firmware and boot passwords all over it. I could not even install a new OS for him. It was beat up and the seller just threw it in a USPS box with no packing and that made it even worse! Every feedback he had was 100% negative also. My friend tried to get his $$$ back but the Post office said they had to send the refund TO THE SELLER. So he lost all his $1000 he paid. I will never forget that and am SO careful checking Feedback and asking questions.

this isn't the same unit, this one the person is selling for $70.00. he lives in rogers park in chicago. first question is are you a cop… i don't mind if he got it from less than honorable methods but i would like to know if it works or not….

I'm pretty sure if it had locked firmware my buddy at the apple store by me who is the manager would unlock it for me. haven't gone to look at it yet, it isn't in the best part of chicago either

So, you are saying that you get the vibe it may be stolen, and you don't care if it might be stolen as long as the keyboard isn't an issue? Wow. I say by all means go for it. Sounds like a good fit.

in the chicago area anything is possible, wouldn't surprise me in the least if it is stolen in that area….even still if it works it could be a good deal…thats if it works
