Software coupons?

I bought a Quad the first week of January and it came preinstalled with iLife 05 demo as well as OS X 10.4.2.

It al;so came with these Proof-of-Purchase coupns - 4 of themfor iLife '05 and OS X 10.4. Are they going to give me copies of OSX and iLife 05 (even though 06 just came out) at one of the Apple stores? My system came with two M"Mac OS X Install Discs" that I haven't checked out because OS X was preinstalled.

Thanks for any info. I'd rather look blonde here than in person at the store.

I'm not sure what they are for, but I called Apple sales asking if I could use one of those for iLife 06 as an upgrade or something, and they said that they are proo of purchase tickets, not coupons for new software.... how correct that is I don't know

I guess the question I need to ask them then is what are the proof of purchases used for?

Shouldn't I have gotten a regular (not trial version) of iLife? Not that it's a big deal, but seems kind of strange.

no you cant use them to get an iLife 06 upgrade for free.
you could have done if you had bought your quad on or after the 10th

I've got a hole load of those coupons and am yet to see any point in getting them. Totally useless.

I mean at least they could make it so that if you saved up 10 of them that you get a free Apple mug or something !!

You should definatly not have the iLife '05 trial, are you sure you are not confusing with iWork '05 (since this does come as a trial)?

I think the coupons can be used in situations where you want to get apple to send you a CD version of Tiger (say if you don't have a dvd drive). Why they are still sending them out I don't know.

Anyway, if for some strange reason you only have the iLife '05 trial you should be able to get apple to send you iLife '05 (since it's advertised as coming with the system you bought) or you could just go into an apple shop and explain. Also, you don't need to get the OSX installation disc off apple, since you already have it, the discs that came with your system (the grey ones) have OSX on it should you need to do a re-install.

Maybe you can use them to get a replacement disc if you ever happen to lose your copy.

Or possibly they just have to include them for legal reasons...

Is it possible that you can use a coupon to get another copy of the os and ilife to install on another mac? For instance I have a macbook with tiger and ilife 06 and am consisering buying another mac for family use. The new computer would have leopard. Could I use one of the coupons from the new computer to get a copy of leopard for my macbook?

This thread is from the beginning of 2006, they don't have coupons anymore. If you want a copy of Leopard, you're going to have to pay for it.
