I am unable to load Mountain Lion on my lap top because it is too old by just a month or two.

Is it possible to up date it or buy an extention or extra memory or something.

    Specs:
mid 2010 Mac Mini OS 10.6.8 (SL), 2.66 GHz C2D, 8GB RAM, 30 in. Cinema Display
Before anybody here can offer advise or a solution, they are going to need a lot more information on the computer in question...model, year, processor, RAM, current OS. Good luck with your quest.
