I've been fighting with this all last night and finally figured it out today. I had one ID with iTunes & the App store, and that stupid Game Center had another ID. Well, when I upgraded to IO5 on both my iPhone & iPad & tried to use iCloud, all broke loose. It wanted my GameCenter ID and then I was unable to update any other apps I had w/ the other ID.

Solution: FOR ME, I had to pretend that I'd lost my original apple iD password & change it, which can be done here: https://appleid.apple.com/ . And then I tried logging in again, and Sweet Jesus it worked. I think that would've fixed it for me from the get go, but I didn't realize it til I'd tried everything else. Perhaps it was a last resort for me.

Things I learned while trying to fix my problem:
1. APPLE DOES NOT MERGE ACCOUNTS...so don't even go there.
2. iCloud made me crazy! (Setting it up anyway). I've turned it off. It's just not worth the hassle, in my opinion.
3. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...old saying that still rings true!
4. Apple still won't verify my main email. :( But at least I can get all my updates!)

I hope this helps somebody.

So my situation seems similar to yours. I have one e-mail address (yahoo) associated with my app store but my iCloud has to have a mac address. I inadvertently set up two iCloud accounts and since Apple won't merge the two, I'm afraid I'll have to delete one (the yahoo e-mail) and keep the one with the .mac

So the problem is how to get all the data (contacts, calendar, etc) associated with the one to be deleted onto the other.

Any suggestions. Do I just need to recreate everything?

Thanks in advance,

von

You should probably recreate everything if it's not too much of a hassle. They will NOT merge accts. it says so somewhere on apple.com.
