    Unhappy Help me. PLEASE!
I'm buying a reconditioned Macbook, a really old model, and it has only 2gb ram. Is that good enough for school? I also want Snow Leopard on there. Would it work? D:

The information on the flyer said this:

    Apple 13.3" Mac Book
    - 2GB RAM
    - 120 GB Hard Drive
    - SUPERDRIVE
    - Wi-Fi
    -Mac OSX 10.4
    -MB062LL/A1

...and I asked the woman who worked at the store if I could run Lion on there and she said no, it would need more memory.

    15" MBP, Core i7/2GHz, 8GB RAM, 480GB Crucial M500 SSD
You'll have to tell us a bit more about the specs of the machine, approximate age and condition. It would also help to know what specifically you'll need to use it for.

I would venture to guess that you're going to need to do the basics like word processing and surfing the web, but are there any other more specific programs you'll need to run?
Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

Agreed with CWA. Tell us a bit more if you would.

For the basics though any Macbook should work and Snow Leopard works pretty well with 2GB RAM.

    Don't you guys ever sleep?

I'm up due to insomnia, didn't expect to find anyone else on line.
I've always wanted to be smart, handsome and modest. But, I guess I'll have to be satisfied with two out of three . . .

My problem is I'm a night owl in a day person's world and sometimes it catches up with me. I get out of sync and wake up at 2:00 or 3:00 am done for the night.

I've found the only real solution is to get up and let my biorhythyms sort themselves out.

Anyway, hope your brain slows down to 900mph so you can sleep.

I'm writing this to you on a 2007 Core2Duo BlackBook with (now) 3GB of RAM, but it had 2GB for at least the prior two years. Snow Leopard ran great on it, and I use my machine for a HUGE variety of stuff. At the moment I've been designing posters and postcards, running the lights and sound for a Fringe show, editing video and writing lots of stuff (that's my day job), not to mention the occasional casual game and the usual sorts of web surfing, FaceTime, etc.

You'll need to specify the model, but 2007 or later is probably going to be fine.

Agree with Chas. My C2D Mini with 2GB runs Snow Leopard quite fast and I do all sorts of work on the machine, much more than your typical Web Surfing and email. It's never let me down either. It's now running 10.7.1 Lion and quite smoothly.

Two words: Hurricane Irene. My brain was in "vigilant homeowner mode". Not that I could fix any of the issues that surfaced.
