Backlit keyboard lights keep going off

Your Mac's Specs
13.3" macbook pro (2010) 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4 Gb RAM, 500GB HD.
No matter what time I set them to go off, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, never, the keyboards backlights keep going off after 1 minute.

What the heck?
