Well it is true to a certain extent. Go through the forums and investigate the failure rate of optical and hard drives in MacBooks and MacBooks Pro. The number of folk having in particular optical drive problems on laptops far exceeds reported problems on desktops, and that does not include iMacs in the desktop range, as they are laptops built up to a desktop size, apart from the hard drive.
