    Specs:
    Late 2013 rMBP, i7, 750m gpu, OSX versions 10.9.3, 10.10
I don't know about the easiest, but the cheapest way - if you have snow leopard, is to use quicktime X which offers a screen recording (Launch quicktime X then go to File->New Screen Recording)

Personally, I use iShowU HD as that's what I happen to feel comfortable with, but if I didn't use that I'd probably go cheap and use quicktimeX.
    My Macs: Late 2013 rMBP w/ 750m; Mac mini G4, 1.25 GHz, 512m ram (server); Late 2011 11" MBA, 1.8GHz i7, 4Gig Ram, 256Gig SSD, HD3000; Powerbook 12" G4 1.33GHz running Debian as a server; Apple TV (1080p version)

Jing if you don't have Snow Leopard.

Well, it will probably double bounce, but no window will necessarily pop up, it'll say quicktime in the upper left corner, and then you can use the file menu and assuming you're on SL with quicktime X, you should see an option for screen capture.

No worries, when one starts with a Mac, especially if coming from the world of Windows, it can take some getting used to in terms of the differences.
