I received an iBook G3 from a friend and thus far have wasted about $500 of my time trying to figure out how to get it to work. Anyway, I received a disk from him labeled Tiger reinstall. I insert it, click on the black/silver icon and the next screen tells me to restart. I hit restart, computer does it's thing, then I'm back to square 1.

Is there a trick to this? Is this a bum DVD? If so, I'll be bummed :(

Sounds like an illegit burned copy and not a real disc.
It won't boot from it.

Just get a genuine retail disc for Tiger from a third-party reseller or other online outlet.
