Then what a Mac would be?

OK I start,

If Windows was a car, it would be a Camaro
If Mac was a car, it would be a Ferrari

If Windows was a meal, it would be a meal #1 @ BK with supersize fries and coke
If Mac was a dish, it would be a filet mignon with a peppercorn sauce and some Bordeaux wine.

If Windows was a Jet ski, it would be a Sea Doo
If Mac was a Jet ski, it would be a Kawasaki

If Windows was a bike, it would be a Harley
If Mac was a bike, it would be a Ducati

ok your turn...

This seems kind of silly, but I'll go along with it.

If Windows was an airplane, it would be larger than the Spruce Goose. Most everyone will fly on the plane. All the flight attendants are pretty looking but some of them have problems serving you, occasionally spilling your drink or sneezing on you. Your pilot is a greedy ******* who tries to get everyone to fly Windows airlines, and your co-pilot is a monkey. As you reach 35,000 feet, a hole forms in the fuselage of the plane and everyone goes crashing down in the pacific ocean. Most everyone survives, and say they'll fly Windows Airlines again, since it's the only 'real' airline.

If Apple was an airplane, it'd be a sleek, jet powered charter plane like the kind executives fly. It holds fewer people, and the service is impeccable - but the pilot is a black turtleneck wearing crackpot. The cost to fly on Apple is more expensive, but everyone gets to their destination safely, and the passengers are often sneered at by the frequent flyers of Windows.

If windows were a symphony, it would be Beethoven's 9th, done very loudly and a bit all over the place.

If Mac were a symphony, it would be a Phillip Glass work; simple, pretty, and minimalist.

Not for nothing, but it's threads like these that give people the impression that Mac users are an arrogant and elitist bunch, and it's ironic that Mac users then create threads complaining about how negatively they're perceived by the majority of Window's users. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my Macs and Apple products, and I do dislike Microsoft and Windows (for various reasons), but if we as Mac owners are going to create such threads, we shouldn't then be surprised or upset about the opinions that Windows users subsequently develop about us as a group.

BTW, I'm not attempting to step on anyone's toes here, just stating my feeling on this sort of thing, since I recall seeing some recent threads regarding how Windows and Mac users/owners perceive each other.

I concur. Wilymon's analogy is really the only one I really see as fitting.

PC users make similiar threads on their forums where they state that Macs are overpriced toys and the users are deranged cultists following Steve Jobs' reality distortion field. Some PC users are more arrogant and elitist than the most hardcore Mac users are.

Zealotry in any form is a bad idea, but both sides of the divide are equally guilty - not just us.

So macs are extremely expensive, and require frequent/expensive maintenance?

The point is, neither side should be badmouthing the other, but we do it anyway. Neither side will convince the other, either. In a perfect world, this thread should have never been started (I admit I did make a mistake with my airplane comment) but as long as they keep giving us flak, why shouldn't we fire right back?

Because it serves no purpose, its not like any hardcore windows users are even going to read this.

All the better then, because then Padawan's point about how it's stereotyping Mac users as snobbish cultists isn't true. It allows us to vent our thoughts about Windows/Microsoft without having a pro-Microsoft person jump all over the thread and turn it into a major flamewar.

Then I guess it isn't pointless, I just don't feel the need to vent because of such things.

Actually, I kind of thought that the anologies were fairly even handed so far. I haven't seen any "The Mac is a diamond, windows a lump of coal" kind of things.

Well I have never had any problems with the 3 Ferraris I owned, I got a G4 frying a motherboard though...

But yes, Macs are expensive and they do require more from their users...

And because we're not a PC bashing board....this thread is now locked. We don't want to start PC vs Mac flamewars. Many people here still use both. Both have their strengths and positives and both have their weaknesses.

Move on, there's nothing to see here ;)
