Still fishing out apps for my Mac and I am tired of iTunes adding the songs I play to the library when I don't want it to.

Any suggested MP3 players?

Personally I like iTunes

But the best alternative (as well as supporting open source) is SongBird

Yeah I am now using VLC media player but I can't get it to where all of my .mp3 files open with it. I even "right click" and select OTHER and always use this program, when I select VLC, but it doesn't seem to want to change the other files to VLC.

Right click on it and hit 'Get Info'. Under the 'Opens With' tab select VLC and click 'Change All'. That should do it.

Or choose QuickTime. It will play all the media iTunes will too.

OR go into iTunes Preferences and under the Advanced tab and de-select the "Copy files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to Library". I think that will stop the file from being copied to the iTunes folders.
