I ran bootcamp , selected the partition size, inserted the xp disk and ran the XP setup, there was 1 partition, I formatted it and then found out it was my main partition… no osx no xp…

Now I’m trying to reinstall osx but it shows no locations so I went to disk utilities and tried to repair/restore/erase and the options are grayed out for all those options (top row works the bottom action buttons are gray) so I’m out of ideas…

Can I format my disk back to OSX compatible without Disk Utility since it isnt able to?

I just got the MBP today so nothing was lost.

In Disk Utility you should be able to delete and recreate the partition. I'm assuming you're running the Disk Utility from the OS X setup?

yes, like I said disk utility has all the options grayed out so I cant partition, erase, etc... :(

I can click across the top options but the button at the bottom that actually says do it is gray on each tab

So everything is grayed out under Partition and Erase?
