What is the point of the Thinkpad X300 or any other thin notebook then? There are people who need a thin and light notebook that unlike most Sub notebooks, have a REAL keyboard and a display they can read. Sure the Thinkpad X300 has DVD and other things but it's larger and quite expensive also.

The main thing the MBA has over the Thinkpad though is OSX. If I need a light and thin notebook that I can type on and want OSX, the MBA is the only choice out there. If I wanted Windows I would get the X300 although it only has a 1.2Ghz CPU but great keyboard and display.

If you do not want or need a super thin notebook, don't purchase one. Get a Macbook or MBP.

The envelope is just to show how thin it is. No one is going to store the MBA in an envelope.

Yes exactly. Ya gotta look past the first level. ;)

When you first see the ad, your jaw drops. The ad is just to illustrate how thin it is : it isn't there to say how fragile it is. Those here who have seen the MBA in person or have one, say it feels very sturdy and is much heavier than it looks.
