System sounds

How do you add your own sounds? like if i downloaded some wav or mp3 files

navigate to Macintosh HD>System>Library>Sounds, and then add whatever sounds you want to that folder (i think they need to be aiff). then when you go into system preferences and to the sound pane, those sounds you added should show up.

how do i convert mp3's to aiff

import them into itunes, select "aiff" from the importing preferences, and then select all the sounds you want from in your library, go to the "advanced" menu, and select "convert selection to aiff". then once it's done, find the sounds on your hard drive and drop them into the sounds folder i talked about before. then delete them from your itunes library, unless you want to keep them in there
