If I have 1gb of ram on my Macbook (2ghz), would I be better off running XP with parallel or would there not be that big of a difference running Vista?

Also, can you have bootcamp AND parallel? so you can decide which application you want to use each time you want to run windows.

Regardless of how much RAM you have, I would still recommend XP simply because it is the better OS in terms of speed and compatibility.

Yes, you can have both. What you do is install Windows via Boot Camp first, and then point Parallels to your Boot Camp installation. This way you only have a single Windows installation and can access it two different ways.

how much HD space should i partition, and how much RAM for parallels

XP runs happily in 512MB. Parallels can do dynamic partition resizing, so just leave it set at the defaults and it will grow as you need it. However, if you decide to use a Boot Camp partition, that option is unavailable.

XP uses less memory and system resources. I also think the emulator programs run better without using a Boot Camp partition - I wound up deleting mine. Unless you have a need to run Windows natively, I would just install Windows under Fusion or Parallels and go with that.

Cheers
