Just bought a clean used 15" Powerbook with 1.5 PPC on eBay The seller was local to me in Nashville and had perfect feedback.
Got it home, and tried to install a second gig of RAM (it came with 1 gig installed.)
The "lower" RAM slot refuses to recognize any RAM installed.
I even had a couple of extra RAM cards (PC2700), and it won't recognize any RAM installed regardless of what's in there.
Is this common for these models, and is it an easy fix?
I really like the computer and don't want to go through the hassle of return/refund if I don't have to.
So I informed the seller of what was going on, and I'm hoping it can be resolved in a simple manner.
Suggestions? Anyone with similar experience?
I've tried the "Basic" remedies so far. Firmware reset, PRAM reset, even erased the hard drive and installed a retial copy of Tiger that I have (the computer came with Leopard.)
No go.
Would love to hear what you folks think!
