Hello. I just purchased a new macbook, and I have a few questions.

When my Macbook is closed, I can move the little side to side a little. Is this normal? Also, when I carry it, I can feel the lid move a little.

Also, is OWC RAM good quality. I wanted to buy some from macsales.com but i wanted to know if it would work well.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum.

If you are concerned I would take it back to the Mac store and have them look at it. Not having a mac book (I have a mac book pro) I cant really answer your question. Cant say I have heard of that ram but I am in Australia.

OWC is excellent and they will give you a guarantee with the modules which will be Mac compatible as they are Mac specialists. Like maddog cannot help with the laptop question.

I bet the lid is just a defect in the production....A loose hinge perhaps

no. Mine does it. A millimeter or so. Dont worry about it. All MacBooks I have seen do it.

Mine does it as well. It is sort of weird, but I do not think it is anything more than a little annoying.

So, do you think I should worry about it?

Mine does it too. When you get annoyed enough with it, take it to an Apple store if there is one close by. They'll probably fix it, or send it off for further inspection as the repair depot.

I originally had a problem with the plastic casing on the bottom left side flexing a little. It drove me crazy, but I lived with it until the trackpad button started to click in a weird way. Brought it in - they sent it off. When it came back, they had not only fixed the trackpad button and the bottom casing, but did a full inspection and found a couple of internal brackets that needed to be replaced. The issue you describe has also been resolved on my Macbook.

I bought mine a month ago and mine has a slight movement like yours as well when closed. I'm not worried about it.

So, do you think I should worry about it?

No. It's a magnetic latch, so you have nothing at the other side keeping it totally stationary when closed. If it had a physical latch, it wouldn't move at all, but that's the sacrifice you make for this particular design.

I FOUND A SOLUTION IS THIS THE LID MOVING MAKES YOU ANGRY :). Ok, head to the drug store, and pick up some little foam pads, the sticky ones. Put those on the sides and it stays tight. The apple care guy told me this. Woot Woot!
