Hello all,

I have a 2 year old G5 Quad 2.5GHz. It shipped with 0.5Gb RAM (almost unheard of these days!) and I paid to add an additional 2Gb making 2.5Gb total.

With the price of RAM having dropped significantly since then, can anyone tell me how much of a performance improvement I could expect to see (using Photoshop, especially photomerges, and also Aperture) if I add an additional 8Gb making 10.5Gb total?

Any info would be gratefully received .... thanks in advance :)

10.5gb of RAM? wow. I think that might be just a bit of overkill. I'm not sure if there's a point of diminishing returns on RAM, but I think most people with these kinds of set ups are content with 1-3x what you're currently running (3x being on the high side). With that said... I say go for it! if you have the money to burn, how awesome would it be to say you have 10.5gb of RAM! hahah

good luck
