Hi, I am not long into the world of using Apple products maybe 10 months or so and have now got myself a very nice wee macbook and iphone and am now thinking of buying a new Imac. I really would like the 24" model which only comes in 2.4ghz processor but would have to wait a wee while to save up a bit more funds as am a student still. I study interactive multimedia and do a lot of work in flash photoshop and dreamweaver etc and was just wondering if i were to just go for the basic model now with a 2.0ghz processor and maybe bulk up memory would i notice a gr8 difference in performance due to the smaller processor?

If you're strapped on cash and want the power, I'd look at going down to the 20" model. I have the 20", 2.4GHz, 3GB RAM and am completely satisfied with it. If you need the 24", then I'm not sure what to say except seriously think about saving up.... maybe by the time you have the money saved up, they'll have upgraded them with faster processors maybe.

It;s rumored that since the nwe macbooks came a few days ago new iMacs may arrive..
It's therefore likely that they'll either boost the processors or at least drop the price on the 2.4s.

I have the lowest spec iMac and it's suits my needs perfectly. I have upgraded the RAM though to improve performance when multi-tasking. It depends what you want to use the machine for and whether you use programs or games that are going to be very demanding for the computer's resources...
