• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I work offshore doing the hurricane recovery of the damage rigs. We work with the divers who of course do all of the work. My question is that the divers have live feed from their helmets. I want to capture some video from it. Depending on the dive company some will burn DVDs and some have it piped into a black video box. I know that you can use a video capturing device and that there are different means to plug into the box to get the video. It appears to just be plug and not fire wire. I am not looking to make a blockbuster hit so I don't want to spend to much. I would appreciate any insight.

is it just like a normal analog video cable?

If so you will need an analog to digital converter to be able to capture it.
